St. Thomas is at
18.3˚North (latitude) – 65.0˚West
(longitude).
Important coordinates to remember as Hurricane Season begins again Monday: June 1st through November. Around the island, fixed place hurricane shutters will begin to be seen on properties. It is timeconsuming to install these shutters (lots of wingnuts to tighten) so property owners can't wait until a storm is named & heading towards the island. It's a reminder to begin storm preparedness to help to mitigate
against damage & loss.

Rentals: Who Pays the Real Estate Agency?
You are looking to rent a residential property in the Virgin
Islands. You call a real estate office
for appointments to see available rentals within your budget and which meet
your specifications. A sales agent or
broker shows you various options. You
find the property you want to rent, sign a lease and pay the rent and security
deposit to the listing real estate agency as agent for the landlord. The real estate agency pays the rent to the
landlord less the commission earned for finding the tenant. In the Virgin Islands the landlord pays the
real estate agency for finding a tenant.
